THE JESUS QUESTION EAST BAY FELLOWSHIP
(Series, #6) March 16, 2008
WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU?
TEXT: Matt. 20:30-34
INTRODUCTION
· Compassion characterized Jesus’ life on earth. He was constantly giving people what
they didn’t deserve.
· Being salt and light is about being present while being busy, being aware while being
active, and being committed while being constrained.
THE JESUS QUESTION HAPPENS:
1) BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD
· Life happens on the way to our death and resurrection.
2) ON THE BASIS OF NEED
· Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with
compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Col 3:12 (NIV)
3) IN THE FACE OF OPPOSITION
· The crowd loves to dictate who deserves what.
· Jesus fed the hungry and that always creates a buzz
4) BECAUSE IT IS GOD’S HEART
· God’s heart will always be inconvenient and incomparable.
CONCLUSION
· "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these
brothers of mine, you did for me.'” Matt 25:40 (NIV)
