BRINGING SOMETHING TO THE TABLE

TEXT: Matthew 5:21-24

INTRODUCTION

 

·        “He does things for us that other people would not do…he come out here because he got God in him.”    Two homeless people describing David Timothy

 

1)      LIFE IS LIKE A TABLE

 

·        A table is all about presentation.

 

·        "Don't be afraid," David said to him, "for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table."   2 Samuel 9:7 (NIV)

 

2)      THE WORLD HAS A TABLE

 

·        It is made up of:

 

a.       Murder

 

b.      Adultery

 

c.       Divorce

 

d.      Empty Promises

 

e.       Vengeance

 

f.        Hatred

 

3)      JESUS IS OUR TABLE

 

·        Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry...I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life.  I am the bread of life.   John 6:35, 47-48 (NIV)

 

 

CONCLUSION

 

·        Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.   Galations 6:10 (NIV)
