GOD MY ROCK

TEXT: Psalm 71:1-3

INTRODUCTION

· At least 25 times in the Scriptures God is referred to as our Rock.

· "There is no one holy like the LORD; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God. 1 Sam 2:2 (NIV)

1) OUR ROCK IS A SURE FOUNDATION

· "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. Matt 7:24-25 (NIV)

2) OUR ROCK IS A PLACE OF REFUGE

· He said: "The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge…” 2 Sam 22:2-3 (NIV)

· You have forgotten God your Savior; you have not remembered the Rock, your fortress. Isa 17:10 (NIV)

3) OUR ROCK IS RESOURCE OF REFRESHING

· They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ. 1 Cor. 10:4 (NIV)

4) OUR ROCK IS ETERNAL

· Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal. Isa. 26:4 (NIV)

CONCLUSION

· God is in the house and he is my Rock!
