THE PROBLEM OF DEATH

TEXT: Psalm 23:4

INTRODUCTION

· It is a gift from God to have your world shaken because you get to see in a fresh way who’s behind it all.

1) DEATH IS LIKE A VALLEY

· Some of the elements of the valley of the shadow of death include:

a. Insufficiency

b. Anxiety

c. Confusion

d. Darkness

2) DEATH FORCES THE CHOICE

· I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.   Phil 1:20 (NIV)

3) DEATH IS OVERWHELMED BY HIS PRESENCE

· “Where, Death, is your victory? Where, Death, is your power to hurt?”  Death gets its power to hurt from sin, and sin gets its power from the Law.  But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!   1 Cor 15:55-57 (TEV)

CONCLUSION

· For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.   Rom 5:17 (NIV)
