DAVID – COURAGE TO GO ON

TEXT: Heb. 11:32, 2 Sam. 30:6

INTRODUCTION

·       COURAGE =  The strength of purpose that enables one to withstand fear or difficulty.

(Nelson's Illustrated Bible Dictionary; 1986, Thomas Nelson Publishers)

1)    EVERYONE HAS ALONE TIMES

·       Be firm in your faith and resist him, because you know that your fellow believers in all the world are going through the same kind of sufferings.   1 Pet 5:9 (TEV)

2)    ALONE TIMES ARE TESTS OF STRENGTH

·       Every man must do two things alone; he must do his own believing and his own dying.”   Martin Luther

3)    HEROES FIND THEIR STRENGTH IN GOD

·       You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children's children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done.

                 Ronald Reagan
                40th president of US (1911 - 2004)

CONCLUSION

·       Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."   Josh 1:9 (NIV)
