THE FATHER OF OUR FAITH

TEXT: Gen. 12:1-7

INTRODUCTION

·        So God's blessings are given to us by faith, as a free gift; we are certain to get them whether or not we follow Jewish customs if we have faith like Abraham's, for Abraham is the father of us all when it comes to these matters of faith.   Rom 4:16 (TLB)

·        Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham.   Gal 3:7 (NIV)

1)      FAITH TO WORSHIP

·        Shechem was situated between Mt. Gerizim and Mt. Ebal.  Those were the mountains where Moses would later insist that the people of God stop to declare the blessings for following God and the curses for not following him.

2)      FAITH TO PRAY

·        Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.   Rom 12:12(NIV)

·        The word Bethel literally means “house of God”.

3)      FAITH TO POSSESS

·        For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.   Phil 2:13 (NIV)

4)      FAITH TO LET GO

·        The release of life that comes through faith always requires some form of death that comes through the release of reason.

CONCLUSION

·        "The time has come," he said. "The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!" (Jesus)   Mark 1:15 (NIV)
