FAITH OF OUR FATHERS
TEXT: Gen. 26:18
INTRODUCTION
· Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." John 7:38 (NIV)
· Faith is the water of the human soul.
1) WHERE ARE THE WELLS OF FAITH NOW?
· Some of the most common wells of faith are:
a. Salvation by grace
b. The Love of God
c. The Word of God
--Nothing is more perilous than to be weary of the Word of God.
Martin Luther
d. Martyrdom
2) HOW DO THEY GET STOPPED UP?
· This is what the LORD says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, 'We will not walk in it.' Jer 6:16 (NIV)
3) HOW CAN WE RE-DIG THOSE WELLS?
· "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." George Santayana
· Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; Isa 46:9 (NIV)
4) WHAT DOES RE-NAMING THEM MEAN?
· Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it. Matt 13:45-46 (NIV)
CONCLUSION
· With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. Isa 12:3 (NIV)
