FATHERS IN THE FAITH

TEXT: 1 Cor. 4:1`5-17

INTRODUCTION

· Fathers in the faith can be described as people who have been or are significant in the genesis or development of our relationship with God.  They are influencers of high impact.

1) CHOOSE YOUR FATHERS WELL

· You know that we treated each one of you just as a father treats his own children.   1Thes 2:11 (TEV)

2) CHOOSE FATHERS WORTH IMITATING

· Imitate me, then, just as I imitate Christ.   1 Cor 11:1 (TEV)

3) CHOOSE FATHERS BASED ON THEIR CHILDREN

· Children are mixed reflectors of reality.

· Children are amplifiers.

4) CHOOSE FATHERS WITH A CONSISTENT TRACK RECORD

· One of the most important facets of choosing a father in the faith is something called a track record.

· You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, persecutions, sufferings…   2 Tim 3:10-11 (NIV)

CONCLUSION

· …be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and fall from your secure position.  But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.   2 Pet 3:17-18 (NIV)
