SERVICE – THE DISSEMINATION OF MORE
TEXT: 1 Peter 4:10-11
INTRODUCTION
· It is fair to say that less of a life built around personal convenience will mean more of a life built around God.
1) GIFTS ARE FOR SERVING OTHERS
· For even the Son of Man did not come to be served; he came to serve and to give his life to redeem many people.” Mark 10:45 (TEV)
2) GRACE IS THE MODE OF SERVING
· The word “gift” here is the word “charisma” in the Greek. It is very closely tied to the concept of grace.
· The obstacles to grace/serving are:
a. Pride
b. Fear
3) GLORY (GOD) IS THE GOAL OF SERVING
· How do we do things in God’s power? The answer is simple:
a. Motive
b. Trust
CONCLUSION
· For this service you perform not only meets the needs of God's people, but also produces an outpouring of gratitude to God. And because of the proof which this service of yours brings, many will give glory to God for your loyalty to the gospel of Christ, which you profess, and for your generosity in sharing with them and everyone else. 2 Cor 9:12-13 (TEV)
