KEEPING A RELATIONAL ATTITUDE

TEXT: Phil. 4:5-9

INTRODUCTION

·       But you will cross the Jordan and settle in the land the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, and he will give you rest from all your enemies around you so that you will live in safety.   Deut 12:10 (NIV)

PRAYER GUARDS US AGAINST:

1)     A HEART FULL OF ANXIETY

·       Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.  Each day has enough trouble of its own.   Matt 6:34 (NIV)

2)     A LIFE OF DIMINISHED THANKFULNESS

·       There are several things we can be thankful for as we approach the Lord:

a.      His Character

b.     His Creation

c.      His Works

d.     His Word

3)     A PATTERN OF BAD THINKING

·       We pull down every proud obstacle that is raised against the knowledge of God;we take every thought captive and make it obey Christ.   2 Cor 10:5 (TEV)

4)     A LEANING TOWARD SIDELINEAHOLISM

·       Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, "The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation…”   Luke 17:20 (NIV)

CONCLUSION

·       When we lose touch with prayer we begin to lose our real identity and feel the compulsion to run into the arms of other gods.
