THE HORSE WHISPERER

TEXT: 1 Kings 19:9-13

INTRODUCTION

·        Listen, love, and lead”,  is the idea that listening gives us access to people’s hearts, love helps them overcome their fears, and leading is the gift they give to us after we’ve done those first two things.

1)      GOD IS THE ULTIMATE WHISPERER

·        And if you leave God's paths and go astray, you will hear a Voice behind you say, "No, this is the way; walk here."   Isa 30:21 (TLB)

·        There is hardly ever a complete silence in our soul. God is whispering to us well-nigh incessantly. Whenever the sounds of the world die out in the soul, or sink low, then we hear these whisperings of God.  Frederick W. Faber (1814-1863)

2)      WHISPERING IS ABOUT MAKING THE CONNECTION

·        His desire is to make the connection with us, to interrupt our temporal busyness with His eternal love and convince us that it is relationally safe to follow Him.

·        God is frequently trying to make or restore the connection with people around us.

3)      MAKING THE CONNECTION RELEASES DESTINY

·        When God whispered to Elijah at the front of that cave there was an explosion of destiny.

·        God is whispering, “I have more in mind…for this day, for this week, for your life…than you imagine.”

CONCLUSION

·        My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.   James 1:19-20 (NIV)
